Academic success is a difficult and complex task. It depends on college strategies, determination, and some secrets. The term "academic secrets" usually refers to the secrets of learning, teaching, college, notes, exams, time management, meditation, and more. The MigBook will focus on all aspects of college success.

Can I look at old exams?

Some instructors make old tests available to students, and some make copies of their lecture notes available. Samantha Powel  recommends perusing old tests to learn what material is emphasized, the style of questions, the sources of questions (lecture notes or textbook), and how in-depth the questions are.

Old tests may be on reserve in the library or on file in the Tutoring Center or Learning Assistance Center. If an instructor does not mention old tests, ask if you could look at some during office hours or ask a student who has already taken the course. Other students can usually suggest study strategies particular to that course; they can also offer reassurance that you can succeed in that course.
