At one college in USA, excellent programs in the health sciences are offered,
but even the strongest students find their freshman science requirements daunting. Some
students devote too much time to science courses and neglect their other courses. Unless
you are a science major, spread out your science courses so you only have to take one each
semester.
In science courses, it is important to record sequences and relationships. Because lectures move rapidly, you must remain alert throughout class. Science textbooks should be read differently because they contain so much factual material. Read small sections at a time, digesting each one before you move on to the next. Carefully study diagrams. Expect to do more frequent review in science courses, because there are so many facts to master. Before labs, do all assigned reading.
Math is sequential, so attendance is critical. If you miss just one class, you can fall behind. Don’t skip anything in a math textbook that you don’t understand; ask your instructor for help. Expect to spend plenty of time outside math class working out problems.
