Academic success is a difficult and complex task. It depends on college strategies, determination, and some secrets. The term "academic secrets" usually refers to the secrets of learning, teaching, college, notes, exams, time management, meditation, and more. The MigBook will focus on all aspects of college success.

Upper class students give great advice

If you take classes with or live in the dormitory with sophomores, juniors, or seniors, take advantage of their experience. Ask them what has helped them be successful in college. Students who have already taken your courses are often the best source of study tips.

Talking with students who have succeeded in the course can also motivate you. Before registering for classes, ask other students for honest recommendations. Find out how much reading is required, how much time is given to complete assignments, what the tests are like, how the instructor grades, and whether the instructor is interesting.

Some colleges publish student evaluations of courses; they may be available in the Student Affairs Office or the library. If you don’t know anyone who has taken a particular course, wait outside the classroom and talk to students as they leave. Or ask the instructor if you can sit in on a class or two to see what the course is like.
